ATX Good News

I co-founded ATX Good News with my dear friend and another former Austin television journalist, Judy Maggio in January 2022 with the goal of giving people a place to find uplifting, inspirational stories about Central Texas. We always wanted to have a space to share more of the positive stories happening everyday that did not get much air time in local news. In our ATX Good News media outlet, we devote all of our efforts towards shining the light on the “good” in our communities. We highlight volunteers, nonprofits fulfilling needed services, businesses stepping up to give back and volunteer time, and even individuals doing something to simply help a neighbor. We also cover stories many call “solutions journalism” as we focus on people and groups doing what they can to solve a societal challenge.

We realize bad news happens, and we value the vital role of local news. We all need to be aware of what is truly going on around us. However, sometimes you don’t get the full story until you hear about the good news that is happening at the same time. We believe you should see the dark and grim images in the aftermath of a natural disaster, but you should also see just as many stories of the people coming to help. Sure, there are terrible stories about teens involved in crime, but there are plenty of stories about young people coming up with creative ways to impact their peers and communities. Research shows we are what we think about, so we hope to fill your social media platforms with something positive to ponder and maybe even inspire you to go out and make good news happen where you live.

We’d love to hear about good news in your lives. Send story ideas and inquire about sponsorships via our website atxgoodnews.com.
